Where do I begin? Let’s start with this being my personal favorite convention to date because no table fees and everything there has to do with comics. Wizard draws a larger crowd, but MSP has more of the comic book feel to it. I moved around 35 issues over the weekend and had the pleasure of Erica Wyman dressing up as a cavewoman drawing in large numbers of comic book nerds. When I walked in on Saturday the staff treated me like a king. I was amazed how courteous they were to the venders. On top of that, I started setting up my table and there was this guy with a bunch of tattoos sitting next to me and he said “are you zombie bc?” and I answered yes to find out that he’s a fan and already had the first issue from a few months ago. That quickly turned into a bro bond with Dan Dittmer who’s one of the most popular tattoo artist in MN. I was able to make some contacts with a few of the dudes at TC3 and plan to corroborate with them in the future. Overall, the month of May has treated me too well. Two cons 1 month makes Steve a very happy boy! Applying for Convergence in July and Crpytic con in Oct. I also plan on begin issue three, but I’m not too sure where to go with it other than 30 years post zombie apocalypse and it’s going to be dark and very demented.
Wizard World came and gone in a blink of an eye this year. I had the pleasure of my old friend Michael Merhar sitting along side me at the table all 3 days. We managed to move about 80 issues allowing for the total sales to cover the cost of the table which is something I haven't done yet. Day one was dreadfully slow. Night of the Avengers 2 opening up might of dissuaded some people plus the big name celebrities weren't in full force other than Kevin Sorbo. Saturday was a gigantic turn around and things were total pandemonium in no time. Sunday wasn't too outrageous, but we got a lot of late entries who showed their support. I thought our seating was pretty bad being in the far corner of the event, but the person next to me cancelled their show and wizard world gave me their corner spot. I didn't have a ton of product to dish out on it but we made use of it. Anyone who's a fan of Blizzard Artwork would be jealous of me sitting next to the Chen Bo. I witnessed him proposing to his fiance in front of 50 cosplayers with Darth Maul orchestrating the event. I've honestly never even been remotely touched by someone proposing, but this time it connected with and I managed to share the same emotion so many other people experience. Oh yeah, managed to get a picture with Jason Mewes and Finn Wittrock. Here are the pics.
